The practical answers.
Answers to the questions we hear most from families. Still wondering about something? Ask us
Do you offer after-school classes?
Yes. Classes meet on weekday afternoons and evenings inside TOCA Sports Center in Keller. In the current season, Beginner classes meet Fridays 5:00–6:00 PM (ages 4 to 6) and 6:00–7:00 PM (ages 7 and up), with a Tuesday 5:00–6:30 PM option for ages 7 and up. Schedules change by season, so the registration page always has the current times.
What is rhythmic gymnastics, and how is it different from regular gymnastics?
Rhythmic gymnastics is an Olympic sport that blends dance, flexibility and coordination with five hand apparatus: ribbon, rope, hoop, ball and clubs. Routines are performed to music on a carpeted floor. Unlike artistic gymnastics there is no vault, bars or beam, so the focus is grace, musicality, flexibility and control rather than tumbling.
Is ANS Rhythmics a USA Gymnastics member club?
Yes. ANS Rhythmics is a proud member of the USA Gymnastics Olympic Program with more than 13 competition seasons in USAG and FIG programs. Our competitive team trains along the USAG Junior Olympic Program and FIG pathway.
What does my gymnast wear to class?
A black leotard or fitted black tank top or T-shirt, black tights, leggings or shorts with no bright colors or patterns, and white socks. In colder weather, fitted long sleeves and leggings are fine, and warm-up layers may go over a leotard. Team gymnasts also bring toe shoes. Avoid loose clothing, skirts and dresses.
How should hair be done for rhythmic gymnastics?
A secure bun or folded braid, held with hair ties, gel or hairspray and clips so nothing falls into the face. No bows, headbands or protruding accessories. Ask us for the gymnastics hair bun guide if you would like step-by-step help.
Can my child wear jewelry during class?
No. Earrings, necklaces and bracelets can catch in hair or apparatus, so they stay home on class days.
Does my child need her own apparatus to start?
Not for beginner classes. As athletes progress, coaches will recommend the right ribbon, rope, hoop, ball or clubs for their age and level, and this page lists trusted shops for apparatus and competition leotards.
